Christ the King Food Pantry
Who We Are
THEN
“In my four years at the parish, it was a privilege to be with people. I had some ideas just from walking around town and listening to people: listening to the elderly to the lonely and to those that were fearful and hungry. And I thought of ways to distribute food to them.”
NOW
“The people of our parish are so generous. They have always been involved in working with the poor whether it be at the food pantry or at the Friendly Kitchen serving people who are homeless or at the winter shelter at Concord Coalition for the Homeless. People here really live the gospel.”

For fifty (50) years, the parish has operated a food pantry ministry, providing food to those in need from all walks of life in the greater Concord community.
Christ the King Food Pantry is made up of two food pantries that merged in 2011: St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry of St. John the Evangelist Parish (started in 1975) and St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry of St. Peter Parish (started in 1978). With the merger of St. John the Evangelist, Sacred Heart and St. Peter – the name, “Christ the King Food Pantry” was adopted.
The old food pantry was demolished and excavation began as the first step towards building a new facility to be completed during the summer / fall of 2025. In October 2024, we began operating out of a temporary location at the Sanel NAPA Auto Parts Building on South Main Street in Concord donated by the Segal Family.
Christ the King Parish and its Food Pantry ministry bookend the south end of Concord. In addition to the Food Pantry providing food to those in need from all walks of life, people regularly come to the Parish doors requesting assistance for gas, clothing, cold weather gear and housing. The numbers continue to trend upwards. At the northern end of town stands the Friendly Kitchen – an organization that serves hot meals to anyone in need – and the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness – an organization that provides shelter and case management to people seeking a place to live.
Both organizations work hard to serve those in need which at times can be overwhelming. We are partners in working with both in helping those on the margins. Many of those receiving our services are the working poor: individuals and families with children. This includes new Americans and members of the homeless community. Our services allow people to have stability in their living situation as opposed to choosing between paying for food or for rent.
